IEC C13 Plugs
IEC C13 is one of the most common IEC receptacle types and is widely used in computer equipment, monitors, printers, and more.
NEMA 5-15P and IEC C13 plugs are compatible in terms of current and voltage for 120V and 15A equipment. Typically, a NEMA 5-15P male plug can be inserted into an IEC C13 receptacle (e.g., at the other end of a computer power cord).
IEC C19 plugs
If you need higher current equipment (such as large servers or industrial equipment), the IEC C19 plug is suitable for 20A current. Although the NEMA 5-15P male plug is the standard for 15A current, it can still be connected to an IEC C19 receptacle with a suitable adapter, but this is less common because C19 plugs are more commonly used for 20A current equipment.
IEC C15 Plug
The IEC C15 is a plug very similar to the IEC C13, but it has an additional small hole for higher temperature equipment (e.g., ovens, electric heaters, etc.). This plug may be found in some equipment, but it has similar current and voltage requirements as IEC C13 and is still suitable for 120V, 15A equipment, so a NEMA 5-15P plug can be used with an IEC C15 receptacle.
NEMA 5-15R Female Plug
This is the most straightforward type of paired plug.The NEMA 5-15R is the most commonly used standard receptacle type and is designed to be fully compatible with the NEMA 5-15P male plug. It has two parallel jacks and a grounding hole for 15A.
